Volunteer Committee Members
Do you want to get more involved or learn more about how Meerkerk operates? Join one of our committees!
The Education Committee enhances the visitor experience and engages the community through the Welcome Center, Garden Ambassadors, docent talks and tours, workshops, and classes. Join the committee if you are interested in helping to run any of these programs. This group also brainstorms and implements new programs for the public, so come with your ideas and energy. Meets approximately once per month.
The Horticulture Committee offers horticultural and related expertise to the organization. It assists in guiding the design and operation of the gardens, prioritizes and plans projects, and oversees the long-term health of the gardens. The Committee meets approximately once a month. Skills and expertise in horticulture, architecture, landscaping, wetlands, trail and garden maintenance, irrigation, and/or construction are especially valued.
The Membership and Development Committee oversees all aspects of the Friends of Meerkerk membership program. It helps develop membership appreciation events, including our Summer Member Nights program, and fosters partnerships with community businesses. Additionally, this committee will be responsible for organizing holiday parties and next year’s GALA fundraiser. The committee meets quarterly, and if needed, more frequently when events are being planned. This committee is looking for new members with skills in event planning, hosting, and fundraising.
